The applicant is requesting a DA permit to remove the existing
failing sheet pile bulkhead, concrete platform, and existing 12-inch diameter timber piles
along the shoreline and along the face of the existing timber cribbing system, install
approximately 647 linear feet of new steel sheet pile bulkhead. The area behind the new
bulkhead would be backfilled with approximately 661 cubic yards of clean fill material
over approximately 3,532 square feet. Floating pneumatic fenders will be installed along
the bulkhead. Behind the new bulkhead a new concrete pad will be constructed with two
bioswales constructed on either side.
In front of the new bulkhead the applicant proposes to dredge, with ten-years
maintenance, via hydraulic/cutterhead dredge approximately 1,836 cubic yards of
material to a depth of -17 feet NAVD88 over an approximately 10,635 square foot area.
Dredged material would be placed in a barge and dewatered and disposed of at a state
approved upland facility. The dredge area will be backfilled and capped with two feet of
clean fill material (approximately 785 cubic yards) for a final elevation of -15 feet
NAVD88. The applicant anticipates performing one (1) additional dredging event over
the ten-year period removing approximately 1,800 cubic yards of material with disposal
at a state approved upland facility.
