Breakwater Repairs

DESCRIPTION: A breakwater about 1,565 feet long. Dredging of an area between the breakwater and the wharves to 9 ft. depth. Revetment of the beach in front of the United States Military reservation.

AUTHORIZATION:  Adopted in 1836, modified to 1910.

STATUS:  Partial repair of deteriorated and subsided portions of the breakwater to return the structure to its original design elevation were completed in 2002. The remaining sections of breakwater repair were initiated during FY 2010 using Recovery Act (ARRA) funds and completed during the first quarter of FY 2011. No future work is anticipated at this time.

OUTSTANDING ISSUES: None.
