Passaic River Basin General Re-evaluation Study

Passaic River Basin General Re-evaluation Study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection partnered to carry out the Passaic River Basin General Re-evaluation Study to determine the best flood risk management alternative to help communities throughout the Passaic River Basin. The re-evaluation is one of the 15 recommendations made by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s Passaic River Flood Advisory Commission.  Work on the reevaluation was completed in 2018.  No further work will be conducted on the study until New Jersey determines what action it would like to pursue.  A modification of the authorization would also likely be needed to address the prohibition on use of funds for the tunnel element of the project.
