The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, recently hosted an enriching Engineer Week, showcasing the diverse talents and innovative spirit of its engineers. The week was packed with events that not only celebrated engineering achievements but also honored cultural heritage, reflecting the Corps' commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The Engineer Week Roundtable was a cornerstone event, serving as a platform for professionals to share insights and experiences in engineering. The Lunch-n-Learn session on pumps and Wednesday's Young Engineer Forum were other notable events. The forum, hosted by Isaac Garcia, Ryan O’Leary, and Reegan McCaulley, was particularly significant for its focus on the next generation of engineers, fostering a space for learning and idea exchange.

The Foil Boat Competition added a fun, yet competitive element to the week. Teams demonstrated exceptional creativity and engineering skills, leading to an unexpected use of marbles, staples, and binder clips due to the durability of their designs. Winners included U.S.S Intrepid for weight support and Liquidated Damages for best team name.

In addition to Engineer Week, the New York District recently celebrated the 553rd FEST-A Casing Ceremony. This significant event symbolized the readiness and commitment of the 553rd Forward Engineer Support Team - Advance. The ceremony underscored the importance of engineering teams in strategic planning and operational support, reflecting the Corps' vital role in national and international projects.

Aligning with these celebrations, the Corps also dedicated efforts to Celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth. A special podcast was launched, inviting listeners to explore the inspiring stories and achievements within the Black community.
