The permit applicant, Suffolk County Department of Public Works, has requested Department of the Army authorization to perform dredging with ten-year maintenance with placement of all resultant dredged material at designated beach placement areas. The project is located at North Sea Harbor at Little Peconic Bay; and the Little Peconic Bay shoreline east and west of the North Sea Harbor entrance to Little Peconic Bay; all within the Town of Southampton, Suffolk County, New York. The stated purpose of this project is to provide safe navigation for recreational marine vessels transiting between the North Sea Harbor and Little Peconic Bay as well as to provide sand nourishment for the Little Peconic Bay shoreline for erosion and flood protection. DA Permit Number NAN-2006-03249, issued to the Suffolk County Department of Public Works on 12 September 2007 for ten-year maintenance dredging of the North Sea Harbor entrance to Little Peconic Bay, expires on 12 September 2017.
