U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Announces Release of Draft Integrated Letter Report & Programmatic Environmental Assessment for Vermont Aquatic Plant Control Expansion

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, in partnership with the non-Federal sponsor Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, announces the availability of the Draft Integrated Letter Report & Programmatic Environmental Assessment for the Federal Participation in Expansion of the Aquatic Plant Control Program in the State of Vermont and the opening of the 30-day public comment period on the report. The public comment period concludes on July 22, 2025.

This Draft Integrated Letter Report & Programmatic Environmental Assessment addresses aquatic invasive plant species infestations and the need for additional Federal cost share funding in portions of Vermont not subject to the current Aquatic Plant Control Program (i.e., outside of Lake Champlain Basin). The Recommended Plan includes Federal cost-sharing the following groups of measures: a) mechanical control; b) early detection and rapid response; c) watercraft inspection and decontamination stations; and d) public awareness and education.
