Port Monmouth located in Middletown Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey, has been under construction since 2013 after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. Now the nearly completed Port Monmouth Coastal Flood Risk Management Project has significantly change since the completion of its Phase 1, and now under construction Phase 2, which is the final phase of the coastal flood risk management measures necessary to protect low-lying residential and commercial structures in the surrounding community. Below are some progress pictures/video of the under construction Phase 2 portion of the project, which consist a floodwall, road closure structures, tide gate, pump station, road raising of Port Monmouth Rd., and regarding Rt. 36 utility upgrades. The Port Monmouth Coastal Flood Risk Management Project is slated to be complete by end year 2028.
The Henry Hudson Trail, between Wilson Ave. and Church St. in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, will be closed July 2026, for approximately two (2) years due to ongoing construction of the Port Monmouth Coastal Flood Risk Management Project.
