The applicant, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Bureau of Marine Resources, has requested Department of the Army authorization to add fill material to the existing Smithtown Reef for the purpose of increasing hard bottom habitat for marine flora/fauna and improving productivity at the site with 10-years maintenance. The proposed work is located in Long Island Sound, 1.6 nautical miles northwest of Stony Brook Harbor, Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County, New York.
