The applicant, Suffolk County Department of Public Works, has requested Department of the Army (DA) authorization to perform dredging, with ten-years maintenance, with placement of all resultant dredged material at designated beach placement areas. The project is located in Shinnecock Bay and Shinnecock Inlet, Town of Southampton, Suffolk County, New York.
The stated purpose of this project is to provide safe navigation for marine vessels transiting between Shinnecock Bay and the Atlantic Ocean as well as to provide sand nourishment for the Atlantic Ocean and Shinnecock Bay shorelines for erosion and flood protection.
