The permit applicant, Village of Rockville, has requested Department of the Army (DA) authorization to to construct a living shoreline, a total of approximately 3,550 linear feet (approximately 62,726 square feet) within waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) that includes regulated wetlands landward of Spring High Water (SHW), to provide bank stabilization and habitat enhancement at public parks (Lister Park, Tighe Field, Centennial Field and Bligh Field), in Mill River, in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau
County, New York. The proposed work is a component of the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) agency’s overall “Rebuild by Design-Living with the Bay” coastal storm resiliency strategy.
