The New York District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a Department of the Army permit pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. §403).

ACTIVITY:                       Ten-Year Maintenance Dredging with Upland Disposal and return flow to
                                         the waterway

LOCATION:                    Shrewsbury River Basin channels 16-24, 26-28, and 31, in Monmouth
                                         County, New Jersey
 
WORK DESCRIPTION: The permit applicant, New Jersey Department of Transportation, has
                                         requested Department of the Army (DA) authorization to maintenance
                                         dredge with ten-years maintenance, by hydraulic cutterhead pipeline
                                         dredging, approximately 242,120-cubic yards (CY) of material from 
                                         multiple state channels to extend to a depth of six feet below the
                                         plane of Mean Low Water (MLW) with one foot of allowable over
                                         dredging for an approximate total of  42,120CY. The dredge material
                                         will be pumped into geotextile bags and placed at the Shrewsbury
                                         Basin Dredge Material Management Facility in Rumson, Monmouth
                                         County for dewatering and future beneficial use. The purpose of the
                                         project is to continue to provide safe depths for navigation 
                                         throughout the Shrewsbury River Basin.
