    Army Corps Hosts Byram River NEPA Scoping Meeting

    Army Corps personnel from New York District, and representatives from the Town of Greenwich, Conn. hosted a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Scoping Public Meeting for the Byram River Flood Risk Management study in Greenwich, Conn. in November 2017. Residents, stakeholders, and other interested parties filled the Western Greenwich Civic Center as Army Corps personnel discuss non-structural, replacement of bridges, and minor channel improvements as potential alternatives for flood risk management measures within the study area of the Byram River, which tributaries flow through Greenwich and Port Chester.

    NEW YORK –On May 23, 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) along with Rep. Joe Crowley, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Flushing Bay advocates attended a press conference at the World Fair Marina in Queens, N.Y., to announce the completion of work to remove two abandoned barges from Flushing Bay.

    Army Corps and U.S. EPA Announce Superfund project for Lower Passaic River, NJ

    New York District –The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional 2 recently announced a $1.4 billion Superfund project for the cleanup of the Lower Passaic River. The event featured keynote speakers Sen. Bob Mendez, Sen. Cory Booker, Judith Enck, regional administrator, EPA, Col. David Caldwell, commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District, Bob Martin, commissioner, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and other participants. Each talked about the importance of the cleanup of the lower Passaic River.

Discussed was a Tentatively Selected Plan for the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake Rivers Flood Risk Management Feasibility Report.
