    The New York District, Corps of Engineers has received a permit application from Amtrak and the New Jersey Transit Corporation requesting authorization to perform U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulated work within waters of the United States to facilitate the construction and installation of the federally funded proposed project known as the “Hudson Tunnel Project”. The proposed new 4.28 mile Hudson Tunnel Project would consist of the construction and installation of two new rail tracks that would connect to two new 5,569-linear foot single-track rail tubes within a new tunnel that would be constructed beneath the Hudson River between Hoboken, New Jersey and West 30th Street, Penn Station in Manhattan, New York. The proposed project would take place within the Hackensack River and Hudson River watersheds, in the Town of Secaucus, Township of North Bergen, City of Union City, and City of Hoboken, Hudson County, New Jersey and Manhattan, New York County, New York.
